X-43A-LS in flight |
|
Accurate Automation Corporation has been an active part of the hypersonic community for a number of years. We provided the telemetry system for the NASA X-43A. Accurate Automation has conducted research in a number of hypersonic areas including:
- fault diagnosis for fuel distribution subsystems
- unstart prediction
- non-destructive inspection
- neuro actuator control
- flush air data sensor
- scramjet flowpath design
- instrumentation
- adaptive engine control
- aircraft concept configurations
- flight control computers
As part of this aircraft development program, Accurate Automation has pursued the difficult testing of subsonic demonstrator vehicles. This includes a version of the NASA Hyper-X/X-43A vehicle, which is designated X-43A-LS. This remotely piloted vehicle (RPV) is a testbed for a series of research experiments including autolanding. Simultaneously, the X-43A-LS is providing subsonic flight data for the X-43 design. The X-43A-LS is powered by our AT-1500 turbojet.
The first flight was in fall of 2002 and the second flight was in the spring of 2003. The most recent flights were in November 2003 when the X-43A-LS completed a series of flights at Eglin AFB, Florida.
Accurate Automation has proposed an X-43C configuration to NASA and is developing both subsonic and hypersonic vehicle configurations. |
