Accurate Automation Corporation has developed auto-notary™ under our Aviation Image Recorder project. This process is used to prove that an electronic image is unaltered from its original, and to prove the conditions under which the electronic image was captured. This patent pending process can be either built into a digital camera system, or it can be implemented as an automatic operation that runs as images are moved into a file server or database. The auto-notary™ process does not modify the image as does a digital watermark, so there's no question that the image is of the highest possible quality. The image and the textual data that records the date, time, location, etc. of the recording are not encrypted or password protected, so an authenticated image can be shared among users and viewed using any standard viewing software. A small portion of the recorded data is encrypted using a strong public key algorithm. auto-notary™ comes with a viewer program that displays the image and the date, time, location, etc., and displays whether the image and textual data is original or that it has been modified. auto-notary™ is like having a licensed notary public place their seal of certification on the image when it is recorded so that it can be later verified as original. The auto-notary™ process is applicable to any digitally recorded data including images, audio, full motion video, and service records. It is attractive to any organization that may need to take their digital recordings to court for use as evidence.
